Jacob is feeling much better.  He is still is not 100% but somewhere close.  He is not as fussy, not rubbing his ears as much and sleeping.  When we went to the doctor last Friday, the doctor said he was doing well and not anemic.  He is now 19 lbs 5 ounces, 27 3/4 inches long and 43 3/4 in Head Circumference.

We are hopefully that Nate and Heidi's baby will be born today.  They were over our house last night along with Kim to have a fun night before the baby was born.  We also discussed her upcoming baby shower that the small group girls, Kim and I will be planning.  Everyone is very excited about the arrival of their little one!

Baby Shower Thoughts

The Baby Shower was on Sunday and it was wonderful!  How great it was to be surrounded by family and friends.  Everyone was more than generous with their gifts and time.  We really saw alot of community involvement to pull the event off.  Our the setup crew was Tom's parents, my Dad and Chris, Nina Rich, my brother Mark, two exchange students Penny and Albert, my friends Heidi and Kim, and my Mom and Phil leading the way. 

The shower went by quickly as we were trying to keep it to 2 hours.  It turned out to be about 1.5 hours to everyone's delight.  There was eating, one game to discover the baby's name, and then the presents.  There were so many presents that about half way through I got really tired out.  Heidi, Kim and Jenny Crager were assisting us with the gifts giving, recording and cleanup.  Many people were chatting while we opened presents and that was great with us.  I am shy in front of large crowds especially opening gifts.  Tom did an excellent job at it.  He also has a stronger voice than I do, so I think every one heard his thank you's much better.  The only thing that I regret is not being able to have the back of the room hear my thank you's. I tried to yell.  We were able to visit with almost everyone.  Many people noticed our sample nursery with Jacob's bedding, artwork, and bassinet.  Many people also got a chance to see, my mother and grandmother's quilt that was on display.   We also had a great tear down team that was the majority of the setup team and our friend Carrie.  Thanks to all of our hard workers.

I have heard rave reviews of the food, teddy bear cake (done by my mother in law), and baby hand cream favors (done by my family).  Many people agree that it was one of the best shower's ever.  Tom and I are so thankful for our many family and friends that showed us their love and support. 

A special thank you to my Mom, who planned the majority of the event during a time when she was planning her own wedding.  I know it was not easy, but her efforts were extraordinary.  Our Baby Shower day was very memorable and exactly what we needed!

Our Baby Shower was a terrific, thanks to everyone involved.

Karen's Mom was the major organizer and planner for the event. She made the favors and planned the food. Her and Phil and Mark took care of the invitations and they were really nice.

My Mom made the cake. Nina Rich and my mom did most of the kitchen work on the day of the shower.

Our dads, Chris, Phil, Mark did most of the setting up of tables, chairs, balloons, centerpieces, etc.

Jenny Crager, Heidi Cole and Kim Dorsch were invaluable during the gift opening time. Jenny was feeding us gifts to open, Kim recorded and Heidi took them and organized and kept our area clean.

Afterward we had a lot of help tearing down the place, Ron, Chris, Heidi, Kim, Carrie, my dad were all packing away the tables and decorations while the kitchen crew packed us up with some good meals for this week.

We got a ton of gifts, a lot of stuff that we'll need and we're really grateful to all our guests who came to wish us well and support us in this time with the baby.
